The purpose of this course is to prepare students for higher-level mathematics. This is accomplished by extending algebraic thinking and engaging student reasoning through the use of problem situations, physical models, and appropriate technology. Content we will cover in this class include variables, algebraic expressions, properties of real numbers, writing/solving/graphing linear equations and functions, systems of linear equations and inequalities, exponents and exponential functions, quadratic equations and functions, polynomials and factoring, rational equations and functions and radicals and connections to geometry.  Course activities will include but are not limited to small group instruction, computer assisted instruction (CAI), learning station activities, projects and independent work.
